The 1Up Calculator

The 1Up Calculator is a tool that we developed to showcase the projected performance of a game over the next year when working with 1Up Capital or not, that is waiting for the payout from the platform. The calculations are based on the following seven key performance indicators, KPIs:

  • Budget: The amount that you already spend on marketing on a weekly basis

  • CPI: Cost per Install

  • ARPDAU: Average Revenue per Daily Active User

  • Reinvestment: The percentage of revenues that you reinvest into marketing spendings

  • Organic growth: The percentage of users joining due to organic growth

  • User Retention: The percentage of users that still play your game after x days

  • Distribution Platform: How your revenues are shared across platforms in percentage

In the graphical user interface, GUI, of the calculator, these KPIs are entered in the input fields shown below:

Once filled in, simply click the “compute” button and we’ll present you with several charts highlighting the benefits of working with us; that is if your revenue is estimated to be positive! As we simply accelerate your growth, we would also catalyse negative returns. Should you be presented with such negative results do not despair -- keep in mind that the calculations only factor in your current KPIs and, on top of that, only seven of them. In our due diligence process, we actively assess and value past experiences, team, strategy, vision and mission. So, please do get in touch even if your charts do not look like the one below which shows the projected, total revenue over the next year (if does look like below, then definitely(!) get in touch):

The results are presented in four tabs:

  • Score

  • Total revenue

  • Daily actives

  • Revenue per platform

Great, but what does that mean? The 1Up Score is a metric that we believe captures the overall performance in just one number. It is composed of all of the input KPIs as well as to what extent 1Up is able to boost your growth. Naturally, blending many inputs to give just one output means simplification, which is why the 1Up Score is best regarded as a guideline.

The next tab, total revenue, shows a figure just like the one above; the total revenue across all distribution platforms you are working with or intend to work with over time, subdivided into

  • Conventional

  • Conventional, realised

  • With 1Up Capital

  • With 1Up Capital, realised

The difference between ‘conventional’ and ‘with 1Up Capital’ is straight forward: it refers to the revenues that you are projected to gain by working alone and by working with us, respectively. Realised revenues are those that have been paid out to you less any expenditures for marketing. Hence, the line indicating realised revenues does fluctuate up and down and, generally, shows what is available for salaries, rent, etc. But hang on, you say, why is it increasingly facing downward in the figure shown above? Well, the figure above assumes you are reinvesting some of your revenue back into your marketing budget (which by the way is necessary to grow, or else you will hit equilibrium with respect to your active daily users). So, each time you are paid, your daily marketing expenses increase, but look at the value it is adding!

The tab labelled daily actives shows a plot of daily active users at any given day, as shown in the figure below. Neat! After one year, you are expected to have 750k daily active users when working only with your distribution platforms and not partaking in user acquisition acceleration, which would yield you a whopping 2M users on top of that (fun fact: the curves are due to any combination of user retention, CPI and weekly marketing budget corresponding to a fixed number of daily active users given an infinite amount of time [when equilibrium is reached]. Here, fortunately, the next payout prevents you from hitting equilibrium and user numbers make another jump!).

As we stated in one of our other articles about Why is User Acquisition important?, UA funding is focused on helping you increase your player base. Since user acquisition is a continuous process, the longer you collaborate with us, the more attractive the total revenue plot becomes.

The last tab, revenue per platform, shows the attribution of revenue for each of the distribution platforms you work with, as well as any gains you should see by working with us.

By collaborating with 1Up Capital’s user acquisition funding you can achieve stellar results in growth as we combine financial support with our expertise in performance marketing, gaming and cashflow management. 1Up Capital gives you the means and tools to self-publish your game while accompanying and helping you overcome the user acquisition funding and advertising obstacles that you might encounter on your path. 1Up Capital provides you with a tailor-made solution both in terms of user acquisition financing and strategy.
